Wow - I guess that song is not as well known as I thought it was, or maybe you guys are just out of it ;)   Since nobody got the twenty points, here goes...   The song is called "Temptation" by New Order.   New Order is one of my favorite bands of ALL time - they were the most popular in the 80's and had a few songs in the movie "Pretty in Pink".   They are actually still producing music today, their last album in '05.   You may not think you know New Order, but you probably have at least heard their song "Bizarre Love Triangle" - a very popular dance song that got TONS of radio play.
Anywho....no big news in the adoption department.   I have a feeling the bio-mom who's due in July wasn't at all interested in our profile, as it has been about a week and a half with nada news... I'm really starting to get discouraged by the whole process.   This is compounded by the fact that I've been working all by my lonesome in my lab for the past few weeks.   The lack of social contact leaves me with wayyyy to much time to pontificate!!   Not that I need something to remind me of the adoptive wait, but lack of distractions doesn't help.   It's getting harder and harder to picture myself as a mom anymore...   I'm starting to think that Kyle & I are really stranded here on IF island with no chance of rescue in sight.   No wonder I love the show "LOST" so much, it sort of mirrors IF doesn't it?   Being isolated in a weird, remote place and searching for answers as to why this is all happening.   I'm beyond tired of camping out here.   Can I just get back to the mainland already???
Added 4/24/07 lunchtime - Ok, I have way too much time at work to think about things.   I actually am busy doing benchwork but it gets monotonous, so I daydream. I was thinking about the show "LOST" again and was pondering just how prevalent infertility is on the show as a whole!!! Sun was infertile on the mainland, and then miraculously got pg on the island. None of the "others" can successfully have a baby on the island. Juliet was a researcher who cured her sister's IF problem. Is this prevailing IF thing a coincidence? I think not. Do you think one of the writers is one of "us"???

A child of the 80's eh? Welcome to my world.
I cant imagine how frustrating the waiting is for you right now. It would be so much better if you were getting some nibbles. What does your agency have to say about it? Do they have any ideas? Maybe your SOS signal isn't bright enough??? Okay... bad attempt at humour on my part.
Seriously though, I hope this BM is just slow in her decision and has picked you guys.
I do know exactly what you mean. When my husband had to go away for a week (for work) and I was by myself I felt REALLY depressed. It is just too much time to think about everything.
It WILL happen, but waiting STINKS!!!
Uggghhh, don't I know how this island life sucks.
Oh, I know New Order. I am getting dance camp flashbacks... ahhh!
I do not watch "Lost," but I hear it is quite complex, cryptic, and often makes no sense. Sounds like IF to me!
I swear I called it two years ago when various Lost theories were bandied about I said it would all trace back to barrenness. I wish I had posted about it on my blog so I would have proof!
Sorry for the inactivity on the adoption front. Your adoption people should inquire about the birthmother and see whether she chose someone else, is still thinking or disappeared.
Yes, Sun got pregnant, but they alluded to the fact that she had an affair and THAT is how she got pregnant. I gues not that much time has passed, but doesn't it seem like it's been a while and she's not showing at all.
I didn't think abou the fact that infertility is talked about so frequently on the show. You bring up a good point. There is this other show called Brothers and Sisters (I've never seen it) and I understand one of the characters is undergoing DI.
Hi Chelsi- hoping you will get some answers soon!!
My DH loves the show lost. I watch it from time to time with him but interesting connection to infertility. I never thought about it that way.
Waiting is always the hardest part and its something we've had enough of. I hope you get some good news soon and you can get off your infertility island finally. I'm stuck waiting with you and I know how much it just sucks sometimes. Big hugs to you.
Can you believe I've never watched Lost. I may have to check it out. I certainly can relate to feeling deserted on a lonley island!
I've noticed infertility come up as a plot line (or sub-plot line, or sub-sub-plot line) a lot on TV. I don't know if it was always there, and I only started noticing when I was in the club. Or if there is just a new found awareness by Hollywood that it's real and out there. Of course, frequently when it is addressed, it's cured in 30-60 minutes... but at least it's a start. I've noticed it in LOST, Sex in the City, Friends (even beyond Monica and Chandler... Phoebe's brother and wife couldn't have kids...she was their surrogate), Charmed, House...
First of all - I thought the same thing about Lost--it's all over the place with IF.
Secondly, I just want to keep encouraging you...you will get a match and it will be perfect for you. What got me through was praying for the biomom (whoever it was) during the wait. She has either already concieved or she will...and keeping her in your prayers will help you and her too!
